FAQ’s

Who Do We See?

I've never been to therapy before and feel there's a stigma attached. Is it normal to seek help?

Absolutely! Seeking therapy is a sign of strength and self-awareness. It means you recognise areas in your life where you’d like growth or change and are proactive about it. Everyone, at some point in their lives, can benefit from a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore their feelings.

How is talking to you different from chatting with my best friend or family?

Both are important, but there’s a difference between a friend’s shoulder and a professional’s guidance. A therapist, like me, brings expertise to the table, helping you see situations from fresh angles, learn new coping strategies, and feel heard without any judgment. Plus, everything we discuss stays between us, ensuring complete confidentiality. And remember, while sharing with loved ones is valuable, sometimes it’s essential to have an impartial person to talk to, especially during particularly tough times.

Why shouldn't I just rely on medication?

While medication can be a great help, it’s not always a one-size-fits-all solution. Sometimes, coupling it with counselling gives a more holistic approach. Together, we’ll dive deep into your experiences and find ways to amplify your strengths, guiding you towards your personal aspirations.

What conditions or issues do you typically address in therapy?

We address a wide spectrum of issues ranging from personal challenges like anxiety, depression, and trauma to relationship concerns, life transitions, and personal development. Every person’s journey is unique, and we’re here to support and guide you through yours.

What if I'm not sure exactly what's wrong, but I just feel off?

That’s okay! Therapy isn’t just for those with a clear-cut “problem.” Sometimes, we need a space to explore our feelings, identify potential areas of growth, or simply get a better understanding of ourselves. We’re here to help with that exploration.

Are sessions LGBTQIA+ friendly?

Yes, our practice is inclusive, and we warmly welcome individuals and couples from the LGBTQIA+ community. We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

How Do We Conduct Sessions?

What can I expect in my free initial consultation?

Your initial consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy and establish goals for our time together. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions and share your concerns.

Can I switch between face-to-face and online sessions?

Absolutely! We offer flexibility in how we conduct sessions, understanding that life circumstances can change. Whether in person or online, the focus remains on supporting you.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. Remember, there’s a 50% fee for cancellations made 24-48hrs prior, and full fee applicable if cancelling your appointment within 24hr.

So, how does this whole therapy thing work? What will I be doing in our sessions?

Great question! Everyone’s journey is unique, so our sessions will be tailored to fit your specific needs and challenges. Think of it as a collaborative effort where we craft an approach that resonates with you.

How long do I need to be in therapy?

Honestly, it varies. It’s like asking how long a piece of string is. Everyone’s pace of healing and growth is different. How long you engage in counselling really hinges on your goals, commitment, and what you’re hoping to achieve.

Where can I find you?

You can find our practice at Shop 4/1467 David Low Way, Yaroomba, 4573

You may also call on 0424 361 794 or send an email to evolvingconnectionscounselling@gmail.com

I genuinely want to benefit from therapy. How can I ensure that?

It’s wonderful that you’re keen on making the most of our sessions. The key? Being active and dedicated in your therapy journey. Your engagement and commitment will set the foundation for success.
